I had this same problem with DLINK, and they wont help you. you have to call your sp. the problem that i had was that the ip addresses were conflicting. if your router and modem both have the same ip address( 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1) then there could easily be a problem. you have to turn on the Bridged mode, which allows for the router to be the main supplier of the ip address. Note: that if you modem is not from you ip then you may have to call the manufacturer
