It is believed that there is some kind of magnetation involved. think about it.. north and south pole. how do magnets work? they have north and south poles. well bermuda triangle must have some kind of void in this. most of the machinery that travels accross it is made of metal. that compasses go out of control, they are magnet based by the earths poles.

Having spent some time in those waters, mostly in small craft, I can tell you why some of these "mysteries" persist. The Bahamas and surrounding waters are quite shallow, really. Except for a few places like "The Tongue of the Ocean" where the sea floor drops off precipitously, there are many places in the triangle where the water is only 10 or 15 ft deep at high tide. This gives the sun a great chance to heat all that water which creates a myriad of aberrant weather patterns as the warm water evaporates and rises. Localized thunderstorms regularly pound the islands only to dissipate after they've dropped their water, which in turn causes micro bursts and locally heavy weather when 10 miles away the sun is shining and the seas are calm. As you might imagine, this can cause a lot of trouble for small craft and light aircraft in the vicinity.
As a result, many craft have gone down in the seas around Bimini and south into the Caribbean only to disappear beneath the waves in sudden, catastrophic weather that "just popped up out of the blue"---literally. What wreckage remains on the surface is swept out into the open Atlantic (a very, very, very, very big place) by the Gulf Stream; never to be seen again.

Nothing. Someone wrote a book about it and convinced the world that ships and airplanes were likely to go down or mysteriously disappear. The marine insurer Lloyd's of London has determined the Triangle to be no more dangerous than any other area of ocean, and does not charge unusual rates for passage through the region. United States Coast Guard records confirm their conclusion. In fact, the number of supposed disappearances is relatively insignificant considering the number of ships and aircraft which pass through on a regular basis.
It's easy and profitable to make up stuff about places like the Burmuda Triangle. Some of these "phenomena" have a long lifespan, others don't. How many people remember "Chariots of the Gods"? It made the author a very rich man.

I don't know, but I think it may be blown out of proportion a lot. My dad was in the Coast Guard and sailed through the Bermuda Triangle for many years without a single weird incident.
I have heard it can be attributed to anything from methane gas leaks in the ocean to odd magnetic fields in the rock to aliens!

some newspaper reporter in the 50's who interested in that squadron of planes that went down (the ones they have now found a few years ago)....well he set it off.
There is no mystery....I know too its a high transport density area and because of that, statistically there are more accidents that happen there than other places.....no mystery.
Some people talk about the magnetic field there that may at times disrupt some compasses, but I don;t know what proportion of accidents have been affected by that.

Probably the same as what's behind the Dragon's Triangle which actually has more casualties than the Bermuda Triangle.

They say it may be the oil & iron deposits under the ocean...cause weird bubbling and currents, esp. in that area.
