They're only found in England (so far). Stonehenge is a place of pilgrimage for neo-druids and those following pagan or neo-pagan beliefs.

There are many henges (circular monuments) but only one Stonehenge. It was built over a period of many centuries, primarily by Bronze Age Britons, over a millenium _before_ the Druids came on the scene. I've visited Stonehenge twice, both times before access was limited as it is today, so was able to walk amongst the stones, one of the highlights of my life.

Stonehenge has recently been excavated, scientist have found bodies dressed in armor (nothing too fancy) at the foot of some of the stones. So it has been a current belief that Stone Henge is really a burial ground, for an important figure or king. Some went far enough to say the myth of Camelot...but I doubt that

The general name is henge, of which the biggest one in terms of size of the stones, etc., is Stonehenge in England. There are hundreds of henges around the world including another not very far from Stonehenge. Most do not have as many stones. It is assumed that they were ritual circles and were set up so certain stones alligned with the sun or moon or stars or all of the above on various dates in the year. Having no digital clocks and believing the best times for planting, etc. were keyed to the events. Part of the reason for believing this is the many non-henge (no circle, no stones) sites where astronomical events are tagged with markings on stones, cliffs, or structures, as in Arizona.
