0 = (x + -2)(x + -4)
x = 2, 4 when f(x) = 0

Do you mean x^2 - 6x + 8
then set equal to zero and factor
x^2 - 6x + 8 = 0
(x-4)(x-2) = 0
x=4 x=2

(x - 4).(x - 2) = 0
