So many people are against fighting, period. I agree that the war in Iraq was bumbled from the gate, but I hear so many people hollering not to fight at all, for anything! Hense, my question.

Light- the "bumbling" I'm refering to, ( if you saw the interview with George Tenet) is the inaccurate intel info that led to the search for the mysterious vanishing W.M.D.'s. (which I'm not convinced WEREN"T there originally).

This seems like a very difficult question. You can't count the Revolutionary War*, because if that were not fought there would be no U.S. to never fight anyone. Then there was the war of 1812 against England. Yet the U.S. declared war in that case - it is questionable if England would actually ever have decided to attack. I am guessing that if the Iroquios discovered the U.S. didn't intend to fight anyone, they would've taken a good chunk of the NE and perhaps midsection of the country. Other Native American tribes might've attacked to the Atlantic (some tried this is the NE during 1675 & 1676, led by the Wampanoags - Metacom's war (sounds like some modern communications company)). What would happen next is anybody's guess. They probably wouldn't've developed the technology to ward off a subsequent attack from France or England, and trading for weapons only gets you so far. I am guessing we'd be part of the British Commonwealth, perhaps with a border at the the Mississippi River with Native Americans and Mexicans, and Spain may hold Florida. Native tribes or Japan would have Hawaii, and Russia would've probably kept Alaska or perhaps sold it to the British, who would control Canada.
*If you say the U.S. would have to stop fighting as soon as the Declaration of Independence were signed, we'd reach the same destination - England wins.

It's an interesting idea - and I guess if we came to this country peacefully, we would have assimilated ourselves into an more Native American culture.
Of course, many of those people are talking the same way they would to teenaged children. It is one thing to fight and hurt each other when we are new and young and small - but when you reach a certain age, a certain step in your emotional development, you stop physically fighting with your siblings. You simply move beyond it and find more mature ways to deal with conflict.
Don't you think it's about time America grew up and started handling things without violence? There are lots of older countries and cultures on this planet and many of them have dispensed with the death penalty and work toward strengthening the UN to deal with international conflicts, just like the USA deals with interstate conflicts.
Peace!

For one if there was no such thing as war amongst this species, it would be a "miracle." I keep hearing this same CRITICISM from so many about the war in Iraq, and so many who complain over the cost in money and lives. In ONE DAY, terrorists took our close to 3000 lives, and you RARELY here this coming from all the "critics" opposed to everything. There has been no "bumbling" of anything in Iraq, what there has been is covert actions being taken by "countries" to both sides of Iraq who tend to PROFIT by creating havoc for the american trying to help liberate and free the people of Iraq. The civil unrest is a CREATION meant to PUSH america OUT of this area so "they" can step in. IRAN and supporters of a pro Islamic state "again" under dictatorship to RULE over the profits of OIL.........

we wouldn't be america, becasue that was an artificial boundaries established by the colonial powers and later the government, and in fact the name comes from an Italian explorer, Americo Vescuippi. Since the natives had to be fought/killed/assimilated to get the land, Europe would not have been present there and it would have been a lot better place

Well, I think our country would look defenseless. Ever heard of that ol saying, "You've got to stand for something, or you'll fall for anything?" We have to stand our ground, and we must support our troops that are fighting for this country now. You can't just let people walk all over our country and get away with it. Although I did believe that our government is completely screwed, sometimes war is necessary.

We wouldn't exist. If we never fought the Revolutionary War, then we'd still be a colonial British territory...
War is ugly, but sometimes its necessary if you need to get your way. And the American way is worth fighting for.
