Water for Elephants, Sara Gruen
Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, Lisa See
The Mermaid Chair, Sue Monk Kidd
Oops, just remembered you like the hard stuff...ok
Love, love Matthew Reilly...his books will keep you on the edge of your seat, or beach towel..Lots of action/adventure/mystery/Indiana Jones type stuff. All have a touch of supernatural or strange other-worldly beasts. Start with "The Contest" for some excitement in New York's Public Library and next read "Ice Station" wow, the action never stops and you can't stop reading it. (plus, all that snow and ice will help you feel cool) Enjoy.

I am currently reading Nora Roberts Angel Falls. It is really good. I can't remember who the author was, either Nora Roberts or Mary Higgins Clark - The Key Trilogy. Awesome books. Keeps you on edge and you don't want to put it down. Anything by V.C. Andrews is good also.

Try Lisa Unger's Beautiful Lies. It's a wonderful book about a woman who saves a boy's life and gets her picture in the paper, it completely changes her whole life. The sequel is out now too.
Also try Vernon God Little by DBC Pierre - amazing story with tremendous, rich prose. A very enjoyable read.

You could try books by Robert Ludlum. He writes books that deal with political intrigue. There is always a mystery of some type involved. They are not a light read. You have to be on top of your game to fully comprehend them, but they are worth it. Ever heard of the movie "The Bourne Identity?" That is based on his book by the same name.
