It really depends...you could have break-through bleeding or inconsistent periods. You might experience a little depression (since it will change your hormonal balance). Sometimes when your hormonal balance changes, you can actually experience disturbed sleep patterns.

Also, have your doctor check your thryroid. It could be coincidental that you have stopped the b.c. and are having heavy periods. Your thyroid gland regulates hormones too.

I was on depo for 2 years. When I got off it, I experience irregular periods...sometimes I wouldn't get one for months, then I would have several months of really heavy bleeding, then several months of really light bleeding. My weight has gone down a bit, but i'm still battling weight problems, No moodiness....the list can go on.

Really though, you should ask your doctor for a list of the side effects and how long it will take for your body to stabilize over the next few months or even year or so.

I too have just come off Depo after 7 years but have not yet started my periods. Having a bit of a 'mood' issue every now and then and my boobs are really sore - do you think that's a sign that they are due. I'm a wee bit concerned that they haven't started yet - not had the jag for months!
