if you go to windows movie maker you will be able to make a short movie of yourself to try it out, my sony has a built in cam as well and i asked myself this as well, you will need a program such as skype or windows live messenger or yahoo to make video calls or as i said windows movie maker, which will be already installed in your programs list, to play around with the cam, i do it all the time just playing around with it
