If time cannot be measured how do we know it exists? can anyone prove it exists? does time only exist in our heads?why does it only able to go forwards? why not backwards? "time cannot be measured, time is defined by what our clocks measure" time is just an idea in order for simplicity, which is cheating in the world of science.think about it.Thoughts? comments?

Time exists as a whole it's just that we are only able to experience a small part of it at a time. It's like if you passed a 3D ball through a 2D world. The "flatlanders" as they are called would only see a point that grew into a circle and then shrunk back into a point and disappeared. That is the way that time is able to interface with our 3D world. It is one whole thing and not seperate it's just that we can only see the circle and point instead of the whole ball.

Time is a measure ment basically of change. You don't measure a measurement..That's silly The eternal Now has always been here, but by using the instruments of time we can measure how things have changed in the here and now. There really is no going forward or backward...Systems constantly change that's all. Like the universe since the time of the big bang and even before. Like humans. Their systems (I am not a human as I am an alien brother from another planet) are in a constant state of flux..One moment they are being birthed and the next they are being death-ed...Just a matter of change in their system..It works the other way on our planet...First we are death-ed, and then we are birthed...Really not much of a difference... Well...I hope I've helped you understand the nature of time...But basically you just need to rearrange the semantics of the word time such that it conveys a sense of the constant now being measured

Eh, time is subjective. It changes depending on how fast you're moving. You could get in a space ship, travel for a few years at the speed of light, and when you get back, a few hundred years may have passed on earth. Not 100% sure why... physics was never my strong point, but it's a pretty wacky thought, nonetheless.

Thus time cannot be made out to be this solid thing. But the concept of time can be measured. It's just, well, what exactly are we measuring? I'm not sure about that.

Time is just a another way to measure distance. Consider the very basic equation T=D/R= D/(D/T)=T. As time approaches 0 then R approaches infinity. As R approaches infinity then T approaches 0.

Now if D approaches 0 then time still approaches 0 as R approaches 0. Therefore, Time is a measure of distance.

When Distance=0, then time =0. If this is applied to the universe. When the distance between all matter = 0, All time =0. In other words you're back at the beginning of it all.

Time cannot exist without distance. It can only be measured by calculating the distance between two objects. Space is measurable only if matter exists, and time is undiscernible without at least two distinct entities. This explanation is probably unsatisfactory, but it's the best I can do. I'm intelligent enough to understand the general concept, but too stupid to comprehend the specifics.

Time is the fourth dimension, and you cannot move forward through space without also moving forward through time. (And sitting still is an illusion because you must recall that you are spinning around on the planet Earth at about 700 mph, and rotating around the sun at about a thousand mph.) So you cannot escape your movement through time.

Einstein's theory of relativity predicts that time actually slows down as you reach the speed of light. The speed of light is the fastest known speed of any object (and some theorize that it cannot be exceeded). But if you could find a way to move faster than light then you would be able to move in any direction in time.

time measures motions of and distances between physical objects. What science is telling us now is that physical objects are made from non-physical stuff. Which means the basic measuring device(human being) is non-physical. We have been thoroughly brainwashed by our senses to accept the physical world. Time is not absolutely real, but I guess you could say that about everything :) peace and Love Sidney

If time is defined by our clocks just for simplicity, then we could ask the same questions for a ruler measuring length, a thermometer measuring temperature, etc. In the end, we try to measure things to answer our questions. I believe it does exist as long as we believe our existence is limited. If you believe in an afterlife, reincarnation, etc., then I guess time really is in the mind.

Thought terminates for the person who has "run out of time". Most do not take this seriously, that is, until one's own thought must confront that which is un-thought. So, for the one who will confront Being and Time as questionable, comments are superfluous, absurd. If Janis Joplin said so, it must be thus...it proves her excellence.

Time is just a human term to organize things, be it the age of things or what point in the day it is, time is simply human, without humans the idea of time isnt real, the univers dosent understand time, its so hard to understand, we only understand time in human terms, time isnt really anything, becasue it dosent really do anything, it is just a real human way of understanding, why things are the way they are.
