I'm thinking about buying a gaming computer within the next month. I've realized that it may be a lot more affordable to play the latest games on a PC rather than buying 1 of the multiple consoles in release (Xbox360, WII, Playstation3), since the majority of games released for consoles have some versions that are also released for the pc. I was wondering whether I was right in my thinking- Is it advantageous both on the technical side and money wise to buy a powerful gaming computer instead of a console????

A powerful gaming computer is generally pretty expensive. Easily over two grand if you want all the bells and whistles. However, I feel the quality of the games is still better on the PC. And a PC has much more function than just games. But if you're looking for cost effective you need to look into the system requirements for the games you want to play and then figure out how much that will cost.

Good luck.

Pros PC: - Can do much more than just play games - Easy access to hundreds of player-made mods - If you have enough money, a computer can give MUCH better graphics than a console Console: - Cheaper - Don't need to buy screen, speakers etc. - can just plug into TV - Wider range of games (in some cases) Cons PC: - Generally more expensive, if you want a PC that's just as good as a console - Need to upgrade frequently to keep up to date Console: - Specifically designed for games, can't do things like browse internet or use other software as easily These are just some ideas Personally, i'm a computer man

It can go either way, really.

If you buy a computer meant for gaming, you will get multi-platforming games for less than if you were to buy them for gaming consoles. But you have to keep in mind, you'll be limited to multi-platforming and computer games only. You may not be able to play that awesome Wii game because it's only available on the Wii console. Also, different computers will have different specs, and this may affect what games you can and can't play. I, personally, purchased a really good computer, but it wouldn't play some really graphic-intense games, like C&C:Generals. I spent $400 in upgrades and it plays better, but I still get massive lag on games like WoW.

If you buy a gaming console, you won't have to worry about whether or not your game will be playable. Unlike computers, all consoles have the same specs to start out with, so all games are guaranteed to work. Most systems will have added extras too. For example, PS3 can play Blu-Ray discs and it has easy wifi access, both hard to come by with some computers. However, the games will be expensive, and you'll be limited to the games available to the console which you choose.

yeah you may think that... but i suggest console... i never really saw pc's for "EXTREME ONLINE GAMING". i always saw consoles as extreme gaming. pc's that dont lag games and can store alot of them are at least like over 3000 which is a lot... pc's are for internet pics vids music etc. if you fill it up with too many games i promise you in a while you will notice that your comp will slow. a comp. pro like me will notice these things almost instantley... i dont know about you though. anyway i suggest xbox 360 i have a xps dell labtop the second best one and a xbox 360 i always saw my 360 as my gaming system.
