I think teens should have access to birth control and any medical treatment or advice regarding sexual health and reproduction WITHOUT the requirement of parental knowledge or consent -- including abortion.

I say it's a good idea that the teen's on birth control. In an ideal world, all teens would be able to talk to their parents about sexuality-related issues. However, we don't live in an ideal world. Many teens are having sex, and for one reason or another, they feel that they can't tell their parents. If parental notification was required by law, the teen pregnancy rate would skyrocket.

Well I was when I was younger and I wish I would've been married before being sexually active. However, I'm sure there's been lots of kids get on birth control and that's less teen parents. I wouldn't want my daughter (now I only have a son who is 1) to be on it without me knowing, but I want to be easier to talk to than my parents. My parents were older when I was born (39&52) and very old fashioned and I know my mom disagrees with teens on birth control because that gives them a right to have sex.

In a perfect world kids wouldn't need to get on birth control without their parents knowledge, however, it's not a perfect world.

Kids have sex, not all kids can talk to their parents about it. If a child is smart enough to go on birth control (and hopefully use a condom) then good for him.
We are fooling ourselves if we believe our children aren't having sex, while it would be nice to know they will make the right decision it's not always going to happen.

I think any teen who has learned all there is to know about birth control and understand s the consequences of unplanned pregnancy
has the right to obtain birth control without the consent of a parent

Parents dont know everything that their child does

I think it's fine, but it'd be sad if the situation was usch that the child had to hide something from the parents. This is the real world, though, and a sexually active teen on birth control is in less trouble than one who is not.

Well I think If I ever ran into my daughters room in the future and found a pack of pills I don't think I would be disappointed at all but more proud that she is trying to be safe about sex. I would Question would she wouldn't tell me but still wouldn't flip because the common reaction from parents it to over react. I think I would ask her if she could take time out to have a girls night with me and I would slowly bring it up just to talk more about it and make sure she is being super safe and then I would just leave her alone as long as she's being honest with me I'm More then Happy and Proud of her

Very good idea and it's the law that women 15+ may obtain birth control in confidence and without paretns consent. It's vital it may be obtained in confidence or many young men/women may choose to use nothing at all. Many forums of birth control may be purchased over the counter by anyone as well as cold remedies etc.

I raised my daughter to wait until marraige BUT If she decided to have sex (which would be a mistake) I hope she would use a condom. Birth control pills though........ not a good idea without parents advice because they could have medical conditions or conditions that run in the family that maybe they arent safe taking these meds. Like me......... heart disease. I cant take birth control pills with my condition.

No teenager should need to be on birth control because they should not be having sex until they are married. This includes adults that are not married. It is a sin and it is called fornification.

I can understand someone being on birth control to help with periods but nothing else.
