You need to be more specific -- what hotel are you staying at?

In almost ALL cases, the tunnel should be avoided. Exceptions would be THE ORLEANS, and maybe one other.

As soon as you get in the cab, immediately say THE NAME OF YOUR HOTEL & also say NO TUNNEL please. The "tunnel" can add $6 to your cabfare in most instances.

Like the others have said -- Paradise Rd... would often be the best route for most strip hotels.

It is against the law (not joking) for a cab driver to take you in the tunnel -- but many cabbies do it anyways. Once you're in the cab & rolling - there's about 15 seconds to inform him (remind him, nudge him, ETC!!!!!!!!!), THAT YOU DONT want to be taken via 'the tunnel'.

Most cabbies are legit & even friendly. They're like me, they're a local & have excellent info on shows, where to eat, clubs, you name it.

On a rare occasion you'll get a cabbie who's depressed, non-talkative, or just a plain jerk. But, that's how it goes.

Avoid the tunnel is one thing. But last night 5-25 traffic was crazy at 3:30 p.m. going to Henderson after work. Let the cab get you there without the traffic hazards. Sometime it is better to pay the higher rate. Do you really want to sit in traffic and be anxiety driven when you are here to enjoy yourself.
So be patient. If you are coming in at a non traffic hour then avoid the tunnel.

Avoid the tunnel and the strip if you want to get to your hotel fast. I would ask him to take Paradise.

If you go to any hotel on the strip ask the cabby to use Paradise Rd, it will be alot cheaper then if they go the long way.

That depends on your specifics. Do you want to sightsee while riding to your hotel or do you just want to get there as fast as possible?

Have you considered Mapquesting a couple of routes to see which you prefer?
