Most people don't like to be corrected and some will take offense to it and react badly. Try printing out the link below and giving it to her. Also ask her if you can help her care for her betta and then be willing to go through with the help!

Hope that helps

I did the same thing for about a year, and the fish survived, but I wouldn't say thrived. But finally bought a 6 gallon filtered tank put in some fine leaved plants, 2 cory cats and an apple snail. the difference is amazing! it is two years later and the setup is going strong and my beta is vibrant and full of life!

sure, a undeniable fishbowl is fine however it would possibly not be the happiest situation to your betta to reside. in case you get a betta, you need to do a whole water difference each and every week. this implies you need to placed the betta in a seperate box, sell off out the bowl, rinse it and scrub it with handiest water, exchange the water, deal with it (this simply approach sell off the proper quantity of chemical substances in), wait for a minimum of quarter-hour or so for the chemical substances to entirely get into the water, after which exchange the betta. it is plenty of labor, so I placed my betta in with all of my different tropical fish and he's so much happier. so if you'll be able to I might get a ten gallon tank (the package is perhaps 50 dollars at walmart) which would possibly or won't include the opposite stuff you wish to have adding: a filter out, a hood mild, a heater, and decorations. you additionally could wish to get a few fishy peers to your betta (no bettas don't kill each and every fish they see), ones which are well with mine are black neon tetras, neon tetras (those are relatively low-priced), glowlight tetras, and others. it takes a bit of longer to mounted than a fish bowl however personally it is a lot more valued at it. I have a 20 gallon now and after tuition I plan on getting a fifty five gallon. So even though a bowl is a amusing, low-priced solution to hold your betta, a whole tank shall be a lot more amusing for him and also you in case you opt for to head that approach. P.S. in case you get a tank, you will have to get as gigantic as you'll be able to find the money for. a few of my fish develop quicker than you might feel!

That sounds terrible, and you have a right to stick up for the fish. For some reason people use "bettas CAN live in small containers" as an excuse to force them to! First, they need filtration, and the stagnant water will shortern their lives. And secondly, in the wild even when they are in small puddles, they can move around and aren't trapped in one teeny puddle. It is hard to get through to people who get pets purely as decoration.

They CAN live in bowls, but that doesn't mean they like it.

Try buying her a mini filter, and her Betta will be alot healthier.

Betta's do better in smaller containers, as long as it is kept clean, the water conditioned to take out any chlorine, and feed, it will do great. Also plants are great for the Betta:) They jump very high, keep covered with some air holes in it:)
