isn't riding in a car unbuckled a thousand times safer than riding a motorcycle? someone explain this to me.

I have no explanation for that. I have never understood it myself. Where's the logic? I guess though, it wouldn't be safe at all to be buckled to a motorcycle, but it's safer to be buckled in a car than unbuckled. I can see your point and I am totally with you on the fact that it really doesn't make sense. They should really make an age limit for riding on motorcycles.

Because its the law. You are right, riding on the back of a motorcycle is much more dangerous than riding in an auto unbuckled. But, until someone passes a law forbidding children to ride on the back of motorcycles, its OK.

It's not safe to buckle anyone to a Motorcycle. As for cars an adult can if they choose not wear a seat belt in the back of a vehicle .

Logic and Politics rarely mix.

However it is safer to not be straped to the bike if it goes down. I try to keep it safe so I don't go down. Sliding into second at 60+ could ruin the day!

It probably isn't legal in many states.

In those where it is, the reason is that those states are full of stupid people.
