Well I have had one tortoise for about a year and just got another, and am just wondering how I should feed them, they were seperated for about a day while I built them a new home and I bought the new tortoise a feed dish for that time, so now I have 2 feeding dishes for there new cage and I put food in both thinking my first one will eat out of his and the new one out of hers, but they just go and share out of the first one and then work on the other one when their done, but I want to make sure one doesn't hop all the food. So should I A) put food in both and let them share like I did B) Give all their food in one and let them share or C) I was thinking that when I put food in each dish, place them infront of their own dish, and they should just eat the food infront of them. Which one do you think will work better, or does anyone else have a better idea, I will do whatever just dont want one to eat all the food when the other is sleeping or somethign lol!!!

no they aren't agressive at all, its a little funny ones male and ones female and they really act like a couple, their always together. When I fed them I went away for 5 mins and came back and they were right next to each other eating the same peice of lettuc, reminded me of the spagetti in lady in the tramp lol, I jsut dont want one to eat more then the other, and I cant seperated them when eating.

You are making this harder than it needs to be. Just spread the dryer foods over a small area, and put the wetter foods on a saucer.

Watch for a while and make sure both are eating. If one chases the other off, then consider another option (two small feeding dishes on each end of the space is usually the next logical step), but if they are both just chewing away with nothing more than some jostling for position (moving food often attracts their eyes and they tend to go for it).

Another option I like is a food clip. Use a small spring loaded clip to hold a wad of greens or grasses, and hang it in the habitat to simulate growing plants (although sort of upside down). This way, you can create multiple clumps and easily avoid fighting, and it is easier clean-up as well!

I would put them in seperate containers when you feed them, if possible. That way you know they are both getting what they need as far as food goes. Are they agressive towards each other at all? My husband had 2 Russian Totoises and put them in the same cage and they were ok for a couple days and then he came home from work and one had gone after the other one and the one who was picked on was a little beat up.
My only real concern (other than the 2 getting the food they need) would be one going after the other because it went after the other's food.

Let them share in 1 larger bowl and just watch them. If one is sleeping, make him aware that it's feeding time.
