Okay, to make a really long and comlicated story short, an online merchant falsy advertised a product and I withdrew my order but they still charged my account and it has since been overdrawn and I haven't the funds to bring the balance to 0+. There are more details as to why I cannot dispute it but that's another story ;-)

I am now on the "Black List" but am curious if I can open a savings account. It is impossible to overdraw a savings account since ATM's charge you account at the withdraw. Unlike debit.

My new job pretty much requires you have EFT but I can't. The account has been closed so I can't even have it charged to my account to bring up the balance.

You should be able to get a savings account with no problems.

You may be able to get a checking account. There are several banks and credit unions that do not use ChexSystems or other verification services. Check out http://www.secondchancecheckingaccount.net for a directory of non ChexSystems banks listed by state.

Apply for a Citibank Upromise Credit Card. You may then bank online with citibank, a percentage of purchases with this card goes into a college fund on many common items including groceries and restaurants.
Secondly, if you are young, begin putting at least $1.00 a day in an equity based mutual fund (go to Edward Jones or some other reputable broker to set this up as a monthly withdrawal on the citibank account. (this amount from age 18 to age 65 accumulates to over 2 million dollars). Read the book, "the Wealthy Barber" -- pay all debts that you can monthly - when you have re-established your credit, various credit cards will offer very low interest for definite time periods - use their money if you are making more in the market than the interest they are charging - for instance buy a piece of land, keep it for the term of the cheap interest, then sell it, pay the card, re-invest the profit.

Everyone deserves a 2nd Chance:

Go to Wells Fargo or US Bank, they have programs to help people.

When you stated above "Black List" I believe that you mean ChexSystems or to a Collection Agency?

Go visit a Banker and apply for a NEW ACCOUNT and see what happens.

There are over 9,000 + Banks in the USA.

GOOD LUCK! :-)

You can get a savings account which will be good for EFT. I will advise to go to the bank and explain everything to them as well and then start some payment plan to settle your other account[s].

You could try it at a different bank, is what I would suggest, just go in and ask to open a savings account, worse they can do is say no but probably it will be ok, then be cool.

Savings account, I'd say yes. Checking, probably not, unless you agreed to maintain a certain minimum balance at all times.
