What do you consider rich?

By some standards I guess my family would be considered rich, $1,000,000.00 plus a year income.

Sometimes it feels pretty good, because your not worrying about paying your rent (been there, even had to heat my son's bath water with a Mr Coffee when the gas got shut off)

Sometimes it's a bit frustrating, when people assume you are shallow & greedy.

Sometimes it's GREAT, when you have the means to help others and change lives for the better.

Sometimes it gets old, paying 51 cents of every dollar you earn in income tax (38% Fed, 13% State CA) and having to listen to people spout off about the "priviledges" and "tax cuts" given to the wealthy. What a load of C... that is. Try working your butt off to build a business, reach a level of success, play out over $600,000.00 a year in taxes and have someone tell you it's a priviledge. Kinda hard to take.

But most of the time you don't think about it at all. Yeah some aspects of life are easier when you have a few bucks, but life is still a challenge, loved ones die, your children become drug addicts, our brother's commit suicide, and our spouses cheat.

Mostly money buys stuff, and how much stuff you have should not be the measure of sucess.

I read a quote recently that said " The true measure of success is how your children describe you to their friends." My son thinks I'm the greatest Mom in the world, because I love him. Not because we have stuff.

empty? Superficial? Selfish? Unsatisfactory? It depends on what the rest of your life is like. Whether you are living for something, or with some purpose/goal that is greater than yourself. If you are, then it probably feels pretty good to be well-off and a celebrity as well - unless you start thinking about how hundreds of kids are dying of hunger in the world daily while you drive your porsche

I believe it make you very greedy. In most cases, the more you have, the more you want. I personally would not want to have the life of a celebrity. You never have a private moment. They even snap pics of you picking your nose. Being an average citizen allows you to be yourself.

I bet its pretty lonely because you will never know who your true friends are or if they're just people using you for money, like Britney Spears and Charlotte Church.
I feel sorry for them rather than want to be them.
