If you mean laying on the bottom and leaning over I would say it's an ammonia poisoning problem. Change 1/2 the water in the tank and then change 1/4 of it every day for the next 2 weeks to control the ammonia until the bacteria that does that can grow in the tank and filter.

You may have chlorine in the water. I would recommend going to PetSmart etc. asap to buy PRIME or another de-chlorinator to put in the water. PRIME by Seachem removes chlorine, chloramine and ammonia from the water.

If you used purified water, I would consider the temperature. If the tank is extremly cold and your fish are sluggish, you need to get a heater soon and slowly warm the water up to 74 F.

Sometimes if you introduce your new goldfish into a tank abruptly and the temperature or ph (should be 7.0) is way off - it can shock the fish and they may not recover - sorry.

Best of Luck. I hope you'll little guys pull through.

This does sound fairly undesirable. i'm unsure how plenty it is going to help yet i think of in case you bathe her in purely heat water for approximately 15 minute you may desire to have the means to flush the countless flea deep out of her skin. After this attempt getting her to drink as plenty water as a danger it might help flush the pollutants out of her equipment. (by pollutants I advise the flea dip.)

Are your fish in a tank or a bowl? Did you use a dechlor / water conditioner in the tank or bowl?

It doesn't sound like ammonia poisoning since they would be gasping at the surface not laying on the bottom of the tank.

Goldies need lots of dissolved oxygen in their tanks which can only enter the water by means of water movement against air. Filter, waterfalls, fountains etc.

If they are in a tank, lower the water level by 1 ". DO NOT use a heater this too will make them lethargic.

Also, when you brought them home, did you float them properly or just dump them into the tank? This too could have put them in shock.

Have you tested your water and did you allow the tank to cycle prior to getting your fish? If you have a tank, you need to allow the water to run with no fish for about a week - two weeks before adding fish. Testing the water will allow you to know when it is safe for your new fish.

you just got them yesterday? how many gold fish, what size tank and did you treat your water before putting them in. gold fish are not that easy to kill off, so maybe you can save them.

Maybe the goldfish are trying to get some food. I dunno. If they do die, you can take them back to the pet store and exchange them.
