Yes, in three ways.

First, one can bombard U-235 atoms with neutrons, whereupon they "split" into two or more fragments that are roughly equal in mass.

Second, an atom like U-238 can decay (split) into an alpha particle (helium nucleus) and Th-234. That is an unequal split, however.

Also, there are nuclei that decay by emission of electrons and positrons.

Yes but it takes IMMENSE pressure such as the force of the sun.When split it will release powerful energy which will cause a chain reaction (AKA a nuclear exposion!) For stupid people you can't split an atom with a sharp object.
