All the anti-war, anti-bush rhetoric floating across this site..If libs are all about "popular opinion", why dont they bow to the will of the people actually fighting in Iraq and let them accomplish the mission? It doesnt matter what *you* think, you're risking nothing.

And just to silence turds like pinche..I did serve, thank you very much. 7 years as an airborne infantryman. And as far as troops wanting to come home, we always have had that..a small minority of people who join for the benefits (college fund) and whine when they are actually called upon to do their jobs. Then they get out and become democrats.

AMEN, BROTHER!!!
They should shut up, get out of the way, and let our troops finish the job they were sent to do!
God bless our brave men and women in the military!

Actually, it does matter what people think.. as the government is suppose to reflect the people wishes in a democratic government. As for troop.. they signed up to fight/defend/protect/etc... So if the government tell them to fight... they fight. If the troops are told to defend.. they defend. And if every single soliders have their own opinion and goes about their own way.. then the military will be in chaos.
Beside, any soldiers that *signed* up should know what they signed up for. When the government deploy them to fight a war. Then these soldiers fight a war whether they disagree with the decision to goto war or not.
If we're really to ask the people who're risking much.. then the people of Iraq should be the one to ask. It's obvious from the result thus far.. the people of Iraq doesn't want foreigners.

Absolutely FANTASTIC question!
The truth of the matter is, sadly, the politicians are more interested in consolidating (and growing) power for themselves then they are in really doing what is "best" for America and the troops. So many of the anti-war pols are so beholden to their moveon.org, and dailycause bloggers (from whom the politicians receive their money and marching orders) that they are less concerned with what the commanders in the field, and the soldiers themselves, think.
I did see a poll today that said that the American People thought that the policy in Iraq should be dictated by the commanders in the field (76%) as opposed to "leaders in congress (21%). If only the politicians listened to THAT poll the way they listen to so many OTHERS!!
But perhaps that's a pipe dream!

Well, a lot of them think the whole war was a really bad idea, so if you'd care, you'd want them brought home safely, rather than risking their lives for no good reason.
But more importantly, someone there on the ground isn't necessarily in the best position to judge.
They aren't experts on International Law, or Middle Eastern history or politics, or economics, ethics, etc.
The war was wrong. Your refusal to admit that doesn't change a thing.
The vast majority of Iraqis want us out.
Your refusal to listen is just evidence that you have no respect for rule of law, human desency, democracy, or the principle of rule with the consent of the governed.
However much you think mass murder is an appropriate policy, you are just plain wrong.
We've been in gross violation of international law since we started torturing people in 2002.
Your hissy fits don't change that.
Additional thought: BTW, how is it that people who realize the war is wrong are preventing them from "accomplishing their mission" (which, according to Bush was accomplished years ago).
If it were possible to accomplish the mission, what's stopping them?
Explain exactly how I'm stopping them?

I guess Carolyn has personally interviewed the "troops" by her posting! Typical Lib crapola, they think they speak for everyone, when actually they don't.
Yes, there are some military members that think they should leave Iraq, but the majority know the importance of their mission, and they want to see it through......and I DO know what I'm talking about, I'm STILL serving, and see and talk to these troops daily. And yes, I'm going.....AGAIN! Within 30 days I'm heading back over for yet another tour.

You have to separate the troops from the general citizenery.
Troops have to follow orders and "accomplish the mission" even is the mission is wrong.
The obligation of the citizen is to question the politicians who send our troops into harms way which is sometimes wrong.
Unless you believe that politians are perfect and every mission is correct and true....

In my opinon, it isn't that know one cares what our troops think. It's the fact that people today are so wrapped into main stream news that they forget what really matters. People are so warped into what "CNN" or "Fox" has to say that they forget to listen to those who know what to do about it, who are doing something about. It isn't fair to say that know one cares what our troops think. A lot of people do, but they don't have the voice to show it. Lets change that. Lets get that voice.

I support the troops and always will. I also support the USA and the right to free speech and free opinion. I dont agree with everyones opinion or what they have to say but I respect that in this country they have the right.
There is nothing more risky than "loss of freedom"
Thank you troops for all that you do!

How dare you? There are a LOT of people who care about what our troops think! Being against war and Bush doesn't mean that I don't care what our soldiers feel or think.
I think that I can say that Popular Opinion is to see the war END...no one wants to see more lives lost, or more wounded soldiers OR civilians.

Since when did the military get to pick and choose as to who they'd like to be at war with and who they wouldn't? The military doesn't run the country in a democracy remember?

Your incorrect assumption is that the "troops" all think alike. The last I knew, these soldiers were all individuals with the capability of independent thought.
I believe if you asked a thousand different soldiers, you'd get a thousand different answers.
