Related story to a family member... well they got a ticket that wasn't his fault. About a couple weeks ago, he was driving and minded his business. suddenly he sat at a light waiting for the light to turn green. the light turned green and while all these other car sat in the middle of the intersection, so was his car. he was mad because pick him out of the intire crowd of car in the intersection. i had a feeling that the cop picked him because he was black. not to resort to color card but it seems like it... so he was mad. generally, no unless the public happens to be on the college campus. however, in a very small town, the campus police may have public jurisdiction.

there are 2 sides to every story, and instead of assuming your family member got the ticket because he's black you have to consider the actions of both parties. if he feels the ticket was unjustified, then he should take it to court.

If it is an officially sanctioned police force yes. In many college towns if the campus police is an actual police force, and not just a security detail, they will share jurisdiction with local authorities when it comes to patrols and responding to crimes. You also have to remember many college kids live off campus and many college towns are too small to raise their own police force.

i can noy give an opinion on the color card as i was not there to see what actually happened. a campus police officer enforces the same laws on campus that are enforced off a campus. now if they are campus security then they are not police officers and can not issue citations

Campus SECURITY has the same authority as a private security guard. Campus POLICE are actual police with the same authority as any other police force.
