platinum is not used in coins.

They've all been used for coinage. Platinum not so much. Your pennies are copper-plated zinc. Your nickels are cupronickel alloy..

Actually, they all are -- if you count special issues. However, platinum is very seldom used, so I will answer this 'C'.
