Some time ago I saw on a tv science program on how to put a brass coating on metal I think it was a metal bolt.

I have forgotten most of the details.
It seems you put in zinc powder or something like it and then added another coating and then subjected to a naked flame
apparently it then formed a brass coating from the two metal additives any one know how it was done.

Attach metal to + electrode, and a piece of copper to the - electrode. submerse in an acid/salt solution and turn up the voltage. This electroplates copper onto the metal.
...You can attach the + electrode to a bit of aluminium (which doesn't electroplate) and set your metal item on that for a better coating.

Next, boil acid and zinc and the copper-plated metal.

'Should now look silver. Now, heat metal in bunsen burner/ hot open flame until Zn fuses with Cu. Zn+Cu=Brass. It looks like gold tho.

Use electrolysis ,electroplating. It must be active and in aqeous solution.
At the cathode you place the object you wish to coat. And at the anode you put the piece of metal you wish to coat the object with.
Ensyre the electrolyte is a solution containing brass.
Good luck
