heyy guys im vicky im in 6th grade and i love hanging out with my friends shopping and soccer everything in my life was totally fine until my parents told me that my dad had to go to iraq for a WHOLE YEAR which meant no more daddy for a while and going all day all week all year living with the realization that the day I said good bye could be the last day I would see him ever again =[ i remember hugging him as hard and as long as i could holding back my tears but they all ended up coming out anyways .now its been a while since hes been gone the calendar all marked up till the day he came home . Hes home now , but others arent and with the fact of some one dying who is basically your world is the worst thing . so we GOT TO KEEP PRAYING that one day no one else will have to go through what my dad did . Now I can say yeah my daddy is a marine one of the few and proud . xoxo vicky

i'm very happy for you, vicky. i can't imagine what you've been through everyday, worrying about your dad all the time. prayers work wonders. it's wonderful that you are praying for those who have not reached the end of their struggle. you made me realize how brave soldiers and their families must be to be able to cope. it's been a pleasure reading your entry.

I also have a family member (brother) in the service (Marines-Army) that had to go over to Iraq. It was the most terrifying year of my life. I hated to watch the news and read the newspaper. He is also home and I am so greatful. But I hear about the new guys going over there and it makes me sick to think about their families (and themselves) having to go through what we (me and you) had to go through.

God bless your Dad. And all the brave soldiers fighting for this country. I do need to say though that I believe war is WRONG. Nothing against any of these people - but completely against our President. We don't belong there.

I think you are a brave kid, and very sweet to remember the others who are going through what you did....

And it is a good reminder for all to think of the families who are not as fortunate. I have a family member who will be going back soon, and although it isn't my father, he is someone's dad.....

God bless you and your daddy and ALL of our soldiers putting themselves in harms way. Regardless of what anybody thinks about this war, or others, he answered his call of duty. You must have been greatly worried. I'm glad that he's home safely and I pray that all of our soldiers will come home soon.

definatly not over the top. it's really hard telling someone you love so much goodbye, exspecially if there going to a dangerous enviroment...i've done it before too. and you should be proud of your daddy, i am too! without people like your dad, i might not have my family here today with me...thanks :)

I would have been a Marine if I had been big enough! Instead, I married one. You should be proud! It is men like your father that keep America safe. God bless you & your family.

Thanks goodness you dady is back home

but you should realize that there is no point to this war, so when you can vote, you will choose a president that wont send his people to die, just because he wants to make his daddy happy
