Is this shame over how they are being treated? If so, this person should confide in someone they can trust or seek counseling or help.
Otherwise, they should get out - Oprah had an incredible show the other day about getting out of bad & abusive relationships.
You should never be ashamed that someone is treating you badly. It is not your fault - you can't be responsible for someone else's actions. But you can try your best to take a stand for yourself.

no !
a relationship is a two way thing...between 2 people
for somebody to sit & feel sorry for why they got into the relationship in the first place..& feel ashamed about it..nahh that's not going to solve anything or make you look at the relationship any better...

I don't think most people in bad relationships realize it until it's finally over.
There's something about bad relationships, they seem to thrive on denial.
When reality finally comes crashing in, I think that most feel some shame, as well as bewilderment and self loathing.

You would have to give more information. If you have to sacrafice you family and friends and everyone in your life for a relationship I think you really should consider if it is a healthy one.

No. It happens to everyone. Many relationships have at least some disagreements.

No. Everyone has reasons to stay, whatever they may be. I would just hope that they would try to safely get out of it, especially if kids were involved.
