I agree that it's a really fun system. I myself have owned a Wii since launch. I have a few theories as to why some gamers don't like the Wii. Some people may think it's just a kiddy system and the gamecube has a similar reputation. Right now there's a lot of party games out and other than that, the only good games are The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Super Paper Mario. Some other gamers may also be "fanboys" of their particular system, particulary the Xbox 360. Thanks to their year ahead on the market, they were able to release a lot of great games. The Wii will catch up real soon with the releases of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Super Smach Bros: Brawl. I'd say give it time and more people will be appealed to the Wii. Everyone I've talked to who has a Wii loves it. I hope this helps.

People are entitled to their opinions. You used an opinion yourself in wrting this question (not saying that's bad, just letting you know). The Wii is set up completely different than the other next-gen consoles. The PS2/PS3 and Xbox 360 are geared more towards single player games, like FPS's and action; the Wii is more multiplayer-based, evident by the motion-sensing controls and massive amount of multiplayer games (though Nintendo could do some cool stuff with FPS's and the motion sensors--Metroid Prime 3 anyone?). Some people just like different styles of gaming and types of consoles better than others. It isn't personal, just their opinion on the matter.
But saying that EVERYONE hates on the Wii is an over-generalization. I love the Wii, and so do countless others (evident by any game website or even this website). It all boils down to what kind of gamer you are.

Because everyone thought the Wii would just be a novelty more than an actual competitor in the console wars. The Sony CEO said that. Now look, the Wii has outsold all other systems. Many people that hate the Wii just say that because they can't find one. It's really incredible.

I agree the Wii is the most fun system ever, until they release the Wii 2. Superdork is right its mostly the MS and Sony fanboys who hate the Wii.

It's mostly Sony and MS fanboys who hate the Wii. They're just afraid that the Wii is going win the console war, thus making the purchases of their PS3 and 360 worthless.

the wii is not a next gen console. it doesn't even have a DVD player! when more games start to come out for the ps3 also when more people buy it or when the price comes down, the wii will die out becasue people will get fed up with it.
do you remember the PS2's eye toy? what happend to that?
the wii is for little kids. the ps3 is the adult console!
