The Dems declared that they were going to change the war and get our troops home; just vote them in! Well they are the majority and their message today is just as convaluted as it was 3 years ago! They were given a shot; have they blown it? Do Americans see them as the party that whines with zero solutions?

Sorry Frank your explenation that they had no choice is wayyyy OFF!! If they had the courage of their convictions they could have done a lot more like their counterparts did with Clinton in the early 90s dragging him kicking and screaming to finally reform welfare! They stuck to their principles where The Dems are shills who only are loyal to opinion polls!

They are flip floppers that should be ashamed of themselves for voting for a war, applauding when we caught Saddam, then pulling money from our troops. Disgusting behavior.

I feel they lost the opening battle with the approval of the funding bill, their only concession was the minimum wage increase which the republican controlled congress hadn't raised in ten years. Saying the dems have a majority when they can't override a Presidential veto in very misleading at best in judging what progress they may or may not be making. If they just stand their ground and say, no more money for this fiasco, republicans would attack them as every dirty thing under the sun for not supporting the troops and emboldening the enemy. Come September if we cannot see any evidence that everything that has been tried in Iraq at this point is not working and the violence and chaos have not abated, if the democrats don't stand their ground no matter what is being said by General Petraeus or Secretary Gates and the President himself and stop the funding even if it is through a standstill, they will lose seats in congress and maybe even the Presidential election.

i think of that the actual area of blowing their hazard isn't any longer inevitably in who the candidate is. They began out attempting to handle subjects that they ran on interior the final election. They have been given issues began and then got here to an absolute stop. they at the instant are enjoying to politics relatively than showing the country that they understand the thank you to run a minimum of one branch of the government. they'd desire to make a distinction. fix the divide interior the government and tutor the country that they are able to be triumphant. rather they spend months attempting to locate adequate airborne dirt and dirt on the President. Ain't going to paintings.

Well. . .
They say they have a mandate to get the troops home, and they have just approved a bill sending the troops more money than Bush asked for and all the provisions he wanted with no timetable for withdrawal.
I would say "no." The Democrats ARE FINALLY TAKING THEIR REAL VOTERS INTO CONSIDERATION and have passed a spending bill that truly benefits our nation.
Today, I applaud them for the first time since they were elected.
Nobody wants war, but a clear and obvious majority of voters believe that pulling troops out and setting a timetable is a MASSIVE, DANGEROUS, AND VERY COSTLY MISTAKE.

Well, when the President vows to veto any attempt they have to get us out of Iraq and they don't have enough votes to override his veto, there isn't really anything they can do. Drawing a stalemate would accomplish nothing because neither side would budge and the funding for all of the war would be cut off dead in its tracks if they didn't appropriate the funds. It was their decision to just pass something rather than cut off the money for the troops.

They don't have another choice than to settle with a compromise. They're not going to get enough votes for a withdrawal or timetable. Most people are against pulling out immediately so they know their actions will affect them in 2008.

The Democrats backed down on their promise to the voters who handed them control of Congress. When will Americans recognize that the 'Republicrat' monopoly is a stranglehold on our political system which keeps it incompetent and corrupt?? -RKO- 05/25/07

according to the polls, the dems lead the republicans by 20 percentage points in 2008. i'd hardly say they've blown anything. people haven't forgotten 6 years of the "do-nothing" republican congress led by Bush.

When will average Americans STOP labeling everything? When will Americans finally mature and start using a brain when they vote for their prospective candidates? You have to know that the words liberal and conservative were created by the media and we just can't get beyond STUPID!
