For Windows XP
Begin by first clicking on the Start Button.
Then move your mouse over the All Programs icon to display all Start Menu folders.
If your Start Menu is set to the Classic View, move your mouse over the Programs folder instead.
Now, move your mouse onto the Accessories menu folder until it expands.
Then move your mouse onto the System Tools menu folder until it expands.
Now Click on the Disk Defragmenter icon to launch the program.
Then use your mouse to highlight the drive that you want to Defragment?
Then click on the Defragment button located on the lower left hand center of the screen.
Windows XP will analyze your drive first and then display a visual estimate of the final results.
And Windows XP will continually show you a progress indicator bar depicting its progress.
When Windows is finished it will ask you if you would like to quit the Defrag Program.
Select YES to quit the Disk Defragmenter Program and then reboot your computer.

It is called defrag a computer
As you use your computer the stuff on the hard drive goes here and there .
It is a defrag of defragmenting of the hard drive
The scattered contents of your hard drive are copied back to your hard drive in a nice orderly manner- makes a nice picture.
If you have a full hard drive it cannot be done - not enough space
First clear out as much unused space from your computer
1) go to control panel > add remove programs > remove all of the programs that you know you have or had and do not use any more
2) go to the start menu on the far left > all programs > system tools > disc cleanup
cleanup whatever it finds
It may take some time
3) Best to reboot
4) After it boots up
go again start > all programs > accessories > tools > system defrag
turn off all the programs you do not need
in the right bottom is the system tray
turn everything you have off ( exit) including the antivirus
then defrat
It will take some time
The biggest problem most people have that slows them down is "spyware:
After the defrag or before run a antispyware programs such as adaware
I will give you the link
Remove all it finds

It is called defragment your hard drive. Ask your Dad to do it for you. It is kind of dangerous, especially if you can't even spell it. However, the instructions are to go to my computer and find the drive and right click and press properties and then find the tab that offers the opportunity to defragment the hard drive. You should also check the hard drive for errors once a year or so.

the person you were talking to was probably referring to "defragging" your PC. To do this go to Accessories> System Tools> Disk Defragmenter. This will take a REALLY long time if you have a slow computer.

Defrag is probably the word, short for defragment. Right click your c: drive and select the tools option from properties. Then start defragment. This does not work miracles, what sort of problems are you having?

Run virus scans, delete temp internet files. Go to your browser, hit tools and options. Click delte history and delete all. Go to your hard drive and delete any files you don;t want. Go to Control Pannel and Add or Remove Programs and delte any programs you dont need. If this doesn't work, use System restore and go back to a date when your computer was working right.
Email me if you have any ?'s
Hope that helps =)
