I have two beta fish in two different tanks and its hard to tell them apart

Not harmful. Be sure to pick a complementary color, like yellow for a green beta.

Or, better yet, give one away to someone who likes them.

It's not harmful, but it's not a good thing to do to the fish either. Try a colored rock or some other decoration to "mark" the tanks.

Why don't you just put some kind of identifying mark on the tanks?

will i do not think it is a good thing for the fish .get something like a sticker and put the name on it ..

That seems very silly to me. Buy one a castle and the other a cave. Then you can tell them apart.

put labels on each tank, so you can tell the difference.
