There is no reason former presidents should have to stand in solidarity with one another. In fact, wouldn't that mean that they are forgoing their democratic rights and obligations once they are out of office? I enjoy it when public figures show they have some cajones and speak their minds honestly and openly. It is not an issue of class... gimme a break. Our current president could use a crash course in class.

Jimmy Carter's presidency was a complete disaster,

Economy bad, mortgage rates 18% high inflation,

Nor was his international policy's any good either,
iran and isreal for examples,

Jimmy has no room to talk about bush cause he could not do any better,

I mean i admire him for his habitat for humanity but he needs to keep his mouth shut about politics.

Because Republicans don't like to be criticized. Look at the toxic poison the conservative-biased media spews out every day. Such vile hatred, criticism, bias and bigotry is unforgivable, but the Republic propagandists spit it out day after day after day with total disregard for accuracy, truthfulness or integrity. Rush Limbaugh's evil garbage is something that shouldn't be allowed on the airwaves, nor should the Fox "News" network, which isn't 'news' at all. Republicans can dish it out, but they're too thin-skinned to listen to someone of credible and honest means criticize their own. -RKO- 05/25/07

Carter is, and has always been, known for his honesty and integrity. He may not have been the most effective president ever to have occupied the office (despite keeping us OUT of a war), but he is beyond reproach personally.
Could it be that---gasp---Americans might actually AGREE with him?
Oh wait: a large majority of us DO.

Most former presidents show some class. Carter is the first former president to publicly criticize a sitting president. Odd considering Carter was voted out of office after only one term in the largest landslide in history.

The dude has earned the right to speak out for OR against any president.
I applaud his efforts with a cause he truly believes in--
Habitat For Humanity. No other president has done so much OUT of office!

I don't think it's Republicans, per se, just Bushbots (a lot of conservatives and Republicans deplore Bush), and what they're doing is called deflecting and diverting attention from the monumental issues and problems at hand at the moment, which have arisen from Bush's incompetence, dishonesty, cronyism and crimes, and the support of his Bushbots.

They don't want to look at the disastrous results of what they have supported, so they attack patriotic Americans who point it out.

It has been an unspoken rule that ex-Presidents do not speak out against current Presidents.
Everyone except Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter has abided by this 'rule'.

Jimmy Carter has become a far-left socialist that opposes anything that Bush does.
It does not matter if he is correct, it is seen as a classless act.

Carter recently stated that the Bush administration is worse then Nixon`s. Republicans must fallow and stand by their father figure regardless and attack anyone who may have evidence that might weaken the father figure image, it is one of the cores of conservatism

The truth is the truth. I have to agree with Jimmy Carter on his view that this presidential office is the worst one yet. He need not have apologized for his honest opinion.
