Cosmonauts are Russian astronauts. Russia has not been to the Moon.
The only other people besides American astronauts planning to go to the Moon are China.
And if you go to the Moon, that makes you an astronaut whether or not NASA took you there.

First cosmonauts did not, at least that we know of, go to the moon.
Also by American usage anyone who goes into space is an astronaut, even if the have degrees in other fields such as geology or astronomy.

Aliens. Since we never see the back side of the moon from earth, it makes a hideaway landing area for UFOs that visit our planet.
