About how much would it cost to rebuild a 350 or a 400 chevy small block to stock.(include price of the block)

depends on the application.

if you just want a reliable 350 with normal performance, you can get that for less than $1000. one way is to search the junkyards for a wrecked, late 90's vintage suburban, silverado, etc, with fairly low miles and a 350 vortec. you could also just buy a good 350 block from a junkyard and have it rebuilt at a shop.

if you can spend a more, say around $4000, i'd strongly recommend buying a chevy crate engine. you can check gmpartsdirect.com for prices and options (i'm not affiliated with them, i've just found that they tend to have good prices on chevy oem parts). there are some awesome chevy small block engines available there built brand new by gm.

The old adage "How fast you do want to go?"applies here.You can do a basic rebuild for a few hundred,You might find a rebuildable one in junkyard,that might just need alittle freshening up.

you can get a reman motor for between 700 and 1000 bucks.
