I was sitting out on the balcony just now with my dog looking at hot air balloons go by when I noticed a crawling feeling on me. I look down and there are tiny specks crawling on my feet and legs. They don't fly or jump. My apartment building was just built last year and my particular one faces a small wooded area. I don't know if either of these have anything to do with them, but my balcony is wood and I have a bird feeder up so there's a little bit of bird poop on my balcony, too. Oh yeah, and there's a bird nest up in the top corner, but it's really high up (10') compared to where the bugs are.

Oh yeah, i forgot to mention that. They're black and they're so small I can't even see if they have multiple segments.

Well without a better description of color or how many legs they have, I am going to get some kind of mite.
Mostly because mites are usually tiny specks!
SO if you can give color, shape, and leg count, maybe me or someone else can be better equipped to answer the question.

If they're bright red, they're probably chiggers. If they're brown they MAY be mites from the bird nest.
