Would you rather be John Wayne or Clint Eastwood?

Would you rather be Superman or Batman?

I am in the antihero camp myself.

I suppose the superman-batman analogy was not the best. johnslat gives some good examples of anti-heros

An anti-hero, of course. Heroes are much too one-dimensional. But anti-heroes are more layered, more realistic, more human.
For example:

Yossarian in Catch-22

Billy Pligrim in Slaughterhouse 5

Raoul Duke in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Jay Gatsby in The Great Gatsby

Philip Marlowe in all the Raymond Chandler series

Sam Spade in The Maltese Falcon

Randall P. McMurphy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

I'll pick the anti-hero every time.

You are redefining anti-hero - an anti-hero is a criminal that has been portrayed sympathetically and thus gains popularity as a good guy; Jessie James? - Al Capone - Bonnie and Clyde - Thelma and Louise - Ned Kelly (au) etc...

Superman stands for truth, justice and the American way...

Batman's means might be negative (vigilante) but he also battles evil.

I am a hero.

in all honesty I'd want to be the one that the hero saves and then relies on to save him.
but if I *had* to choose between hero or anti-hero I'd realistically end up being the hero through the course of actions but might not make a horrible anti-hero either...

Anti hero?

I'm not sure of that terminology, when all persons listed, both actors or fictional are not "real heros" to begin with, per say.

Police men, Firemen, Doctors, Nurses, Mothers, Fathers, Teachers, Activist working to better the world- THESE ARE HEROS.

So I would rather be in the "real" action heros camp.

antihero.. thats a lot of responsibility that is put on you... and if something bad happens to a person that you are trying to save, then people still blame it on you..

you cant save everyone, but people would expect you to.

id be batman.. hes pretty cool
