When x is directly proportional to y,we mean that the vlue of x increases or decreases as the value of y increases or decreases.
It is written as x=ky,where 'k'is a constant
when the value of x decreases when the value of y increases or vice-versa,we say that the x is inversely proportional to y.In this case,x varies as 1/y or x=k/y,where 'k' is a constant.

when y is inversely proportional to the x it can be written as y = k / x where k is proportionality constant when y = 6 and x = 4 k = y * x = > k = 6 * 4 = 24 therefore k = 24 when y = 8 then y = k / x => x = k / y = 24 / 8 = 3 therefore ( x , y ) = ( 8 , 3 )

These are supposed to be different pairs of (x,y), but let's go with this:
Direct proportion:
y/x = y/x
Inverse proportion:
xy = xy
