ON stamps: you get things like "people are lazy bums who don't want to work and who want to screw the system". I hear that a LOT and I am on permanent disability. I was hearing that when I was a single parent of a disabled child (getting no child support), working full time and going to school FT... I was a real lazy person. There are people who abuse the system though..illegals for one.. using fake ss Numbers. People who don't report all their income to get more stamps. To get stamps it is a req. that certain people work 20 hours a week or they are denied.
With the TEA program, it's now a 2 year lifetime maximum a person can get it. You only get it on the 1st 2 kids even if you have 10.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.
According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

There are no criticisms directed toward the needy. The issues lie within a system that allow those to abuse it. There are a large number of people who have no morals or ethical values and capitalize on the generosity of others as well as forced payments to a corrupt welfare system where abuses are neglected or deliberately overlooked. If the system was fair, those undeserving and abusive examples would be re-evaluated and those who really need and deserve the help would be able to receive more.

Many many times these programs are abused by people who are just lazy. These programs are many times used by people working "under the table". Alot of people on these programs are sorry a$$ people who want someone else to help support them. I see these people everyday.....they get food stamps and aid but some how still have enough money to drive a really nice care, where really nice clothes, have the nails and hair done, and a ring on every finger.
Not all do it. But ALOT do

The problem is that it is not temporary. I live in the Chicago area where they are taking down several of the projects in the city. They were interviewing people on the news about it and several of them said they lived there for over 30 years on aid! That is insane. There are people on aid that are young and able to work, but don't have to. In the mean time, our elderly have to choose between medicine or food. If you give a man a free home, he will not take care of it the same way he would if he had to pay for it himself. That is obvious. Just look at the free housing in your city. The more kids you have the more money you get. It amazes me at the grocery store when they pull out their food stamp card. They have better food and gym shoes than I can afford for myself. It makes me sick to see that.

i've heard a lot of people say that welfare is only given to black or mexican people. and it's simply not true. it's given to people in need. a fact i witnessed after hurricane rita. our county was declared a disaster area and i know many families who received emergency food stamps for 3 months!!! my personal criticism is sometimes it can be damned if you do, damned if you don't (WORK) if you work, you may not get help or definetly probably a reduced amount especially if you get child support too. , if you don't work, you probably will get help but it sucks not having money or a job. i'm caught in that pattern, if i work full time and make even just $8. an hour, i kill myself with stress cuz i'm a single parent, and they take away all food stamps because my child support puts me over the income limit. if i don't work, my 2 kids get free medicaid and also a nice amount of food stamps and i get plenty of time to take care of the house and kids. what a dillema. i'd like to work, it sucks when they take your benefits away though. some say, if you make a quarter, they take away fifty cents.

All of the programs are wasteful. That should be expected..it is run by the government.
It is not unusual for less than 5 cents from every tax dollar used to make it to the family that needs help..that means 95 cents were wasted.
That woud be like my daughter asking for money to fill her gas tank ($20 to fill currently) and telling me it will take $400 to do it.
that is the most common problem

I don't have a problem with neither with the understanding they are temporary-but as soon as the people are stable and working ..the assistance should cease....In the past the assistance programs were vastly misused--which means the burden fell on tax payers.

Welfare and charity are two different things...
Charity is a generous soul who voluntarily gives money to those he deems worthy...
Welfare is where a man is forced by the representative of the person in need to give him money, regardless of his opinions.
