A recipe of disaster, male and female Betta's need their time to fist get used to their knew home. When the male starts to make a bubble nest put the females bowl close and then after a day if the bubble nest is there still then introduce the female. Watch em for an hour and if anything happens then remove the female or the male will kill her. If you just put them like that they may not like each other.

Things may look fine now, but that will change very quickly. The female does not kill the male after breeding as someone else said, the male will kill the female and well before they even attempt to breed. Male bettas are very territorial when it comes to other bettas and will not allow another betta to be in there space, either male or female. If you keep them together you will lose your female within a few days at the most.

Bettas are extremely aggressive and territorial. A male might only MIGHT tolerate a female if he wants to mate with her but it is inevitable that eventually he will harrass her until she is dead. Sometimes females can get along but not always. Males can never be kept together and they say that Bettas shouldn't even be able to see each other even if they are in separate tanks or bowls. When they see another one they become very aggressive and are in fighting mode. A lot of people like it because of the colors and watching the fins flare and the movements they make, but it is cruel to the fish. It puts a huge amount of stress on their bodies that could kill them. If you want them to live and be happy, they must be separated.

Yes. It is only when you put a male and male together, or a female and female together that they get aggressive

you should only put a male and female together if u want them to mate, and reproduce, creating babies, if so, then you should really purchase breading grass, so that way they will do so in a safe way.
