I want to make those fancy boffer weapons, the ones that show up when you do an internet search on latex foam weapons. Even if you don't know what boffer or LARPing is, tell me how to make a durable, soft rubber coating on foam, latex or other wise. I have seen "Plasti dip" that may work as a replacement, but I have never see that product any were but online, and I am unsure of were to buy it. Same thing with latex and or any finishing chemicals.
Thank you.

I'm a seamstress, so I'd make mine from 1/4 inch foam on a carved wooden handle and then cover it in shiny fabric, adding seams and topstitching where necessary.

Latex: - latex weapons were created in Europe and they are generally referred to us “ultra light”. These can be easily maintained with the silicon spray. They give more realistic look than boffer weapons and extensively used in hardware and crafts stores. Foam: - These are manufactured by artisans and specialized workshops. Foams are under the safest category to use. They are covered with latex then coated with a paint to give a realistic look. Boffer: - These are made of PVC and foam. It is an iconic symbol of LARPing and less expensive. Boffer items are easy to build and repair. Use some contact cement, tube foam, a bit of open cell, and an extra cloth sock or even women’s hose in a “repair kit” to affect a field repair in less than ten minutes at a game event.
