Keep is simple. Say thank you for all your support in our time of need, you have lightened our burden more than you could ever know and we appreciate it.

Good Morning/Afternoon Pastor/Minister whatever the name,
we have been through such a hardship this past year, and we want to thank you for helping us. You generousity is a true gift from God, and it will be appreciated and remembered for the rest of our lives. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your kindness. God bless you, God bless your wonderful church. ------- I can't come up with too much detail because I don't know the whole story, but I hope these words will help you to get a good start.

I have done this before and this is what I wrote, Thank you so much for your genorosity to my family in our time of need. Your gift was an answer to prayer and was a great help.
Then give an up date on your health and ask that they keep praying for you. Then put, May god bless each and everyone of you. Again thank you, Your Name

Absolutely, what Brandi said was great! I've been in that situation before, but all I did was walk into the church office and hug everyone then volunteered to help out in the office for a few hours a week for a few months......turned out to be my full-time job. ;) My pastor and church blessed me so much in my time of need, I felt the best way for me to 'repay' that was to offer my talents in the office. :)

The top contributor said it best. Don't worry about not being good with words. Sit down with a card and the Lord will give you the words.

Well, you don't have to be the best writer to write a thank you note. Just write from the heart. Thank the church for the money and explain how it has helped you so much and you appreciate them for caring about you so much. You can get ideas from what I've come up with:
Dear ______(name of church),
Thank you for the money you have sent us. My husband and I greatly appreciated it and it has helped us out tremendously. We thank you for how caring you have been to us to help us out this way. Without your help we would have been struggling majorly-but we are not thanks to everybody who kept us in their prayers and helped us out financially. Again, we thank you for what you have done. May God bless every one of your kind and giving souls.
Love,
_____(the name of you and your husband)

'Hope I helped!!

Thank you for being there in our time of need, and I promise to try to pass this good on to others so as not to break the circle of good, that you so kindly allowed me to be a part of! or better yet, just talk from your heart, and you can't go wrong !!

Say it with your own words and they will know the thank you is from you. Say it with someone else's words, and they will know it is not from you.

You can make or buy an inexpensive Thank You card with words in it. Even that is better than having someone else pick words for you.

P.S. You ARE good with words...you said all you had to say for thank you in your question. Do it!

Dear fellow parishioners,

Words can not do justice to how overcome with gratitude I feel towards all of you that have opened your hearts to help us in our time of difficulty. It is so very reassuring that I am part of this church and community that cares for one another time and again.

We are so very thankful for this gesture of goodwill from all of you. Thank you again. God bless.

I would say something like this... Thank you so much for your prayers and your blessings. Its nice to be thought of while my family went through my stay at the hospital. Everything you did was very much appreciated by us all. Sign your family here.
