I will not wear them because I personally don't like them. But women [am I sounding "sexist"?] look gorgeous wearing them. I like them. [Yes, I know men can wear them, too] Why such hatred?

hypocrites wear leather belts and shoes... and maybe use a leather purse..... then complain about people wearing fur.
If someone doesn't like to wear fur... thats their choice.
If someone likes to wear fur... that is also their choice.
If you don't like people to wear the skins of animals... then don't buy them. If enough people agree with you then no one will be able to sell the animal skin products.
Looks to me like more people disagree though.. since leather and fur products command high prices.
This is reality. Deal with it.

I hate to sound like a jerk or anything but most people who are against fur coats make me laugh I mean if you eat meat isn't that the same deal your still killing an innocent animal for something it has to offer. personally I don't like the idea of killing animals but I won't lose any sleep over it because I just think of it as whats worse? being ripped apart by a predator in the wild and suffering for hours before you finally die, starving to death, and getting some crazy disease or while you are alive getting fed, taken care of and having a safe home? I know it's a little harsh but it's the reality of the matter so no I have no problems with fur coats

well, it's because animals are being killed. And wearing an animal's skin, is kind of not comfortable. It's like me wearing your skin, disturbing(okay bad example). but it is true, and now we have fake fur, so why pay the extra amount of money to wear an animal's skin, when an exacly the same fur can be bought at a cheaper price, without the killed animal.

It's not sexist to say women look hot in fur; we do! However, it's really cruel to animals to wear fur. I think I would feel less bad about it if the animal died naturally or if it were at least being used to feed a hungry person, too.
BTW, I know men can wear fur, too. But it looks really tacky and Dolemite-like.

uhh... possibly because they are made by KILLING INNOCENT ANIMALS!!!!!!!!!!!!! People hate them because animals are dying to make people look good. Now, i'm not one of those PETA crazies, I eat meat and all that stuff. but killing animals for food is different, because we need food to survive. Thats the way it has always worked in nature, and the way it always will work. However, nature doesnt have animals killing other animals just to look pretty. Leather is different, since it comes from cows and the like, and we use the rest of the animal. But the animals that get killed just for their fur? Its wasteful. What do you do with the rest of it? Nobody wants to eat mink.

Because an animal is killed just for its fur & fur coats are a luxury few people can afford.
People don't get as angry about leather because cows are killed for meat too. But if it truly is all about animal rights - people who wear leather should be given grief too.
Why aren't leather wearers hassled as much as fur wearers? Because they are a majority. It's easier to target a smaller segment of society.

you must be kidding with this question?? First let me say that the extremists will always hate everything, but realistically why should decent humane people wear the skin of small animals? in some cases the wearing of this fur has caused animals to be hunted to near extinction. even if they are bred for their skins, its still an unnecessary killing of these critters. we are an advanced society now and don't have to cover our skin with animals flesh anymore.

Because we have moved beyond actually having to kill animals for their hides to cover our own. Now days people breed animals for the purpose of ripping their hides off plus you have poachers who will kill animals to sell hides at ridiculous prices.
Maybe there could be a "roadkill" only harvesting of hides. But then you would have maniacs running around trying to run over the poor animals.

Wear an excellent quality faux fur or don't bother.
