What causes computer virus?

The cause of computer viruses are people that don't like Microsoft Products and other products that are designed for Windows.

-What are they?

Viruses are Programs that are designed to attack your personal files or your programs or do anything harmful to your computer at all.

-What do they do?

Mainly all that Viruses do is just frustrate the user and convince them that they need antivirus programs. Viruses usually don't do any damage to your personal files and usually can be recovered with a Linux (non Microsoft) computer. Any existing computer can be converted to Linux.

-How to kill them!!!?

If your not part of the solution then you are part of the problem. The best way to kill them is never to get them in the first place. How do you do that? Well you don't go out and buy a MAC because thats just too expensive and you don't go out and get antivirus software, instead you go to www.tux500.com and learn Linux. After learning Linux and installing it you will no longer need to worry about viruses unless someone decides to make viruses for Linux. And most of all enjoy the free software that comes with Linux. You could even buy a Linux computer from Computer Rescue listed on www.mindblowingidea.com. Browsing the internet without an antivirus program running is faster too.

If you must use Windows (oh no) then you should use Clam, Avast, and spyboot search and destroy for antivirus. These are free but must be configured to work properly. Spyboot must be installed with Tea Timer checked to install the Firewall, You must also tell it to scan your computer once a week and update on its own. The same is true about Avast except it only needs to scan once in a while. Clam needs to be scheduled and configured to update and scan. After that your all done. People still get Viruses on Windows no matter how well they are protected. You must register AVAST for free at www.avast.com every 12 months.

Computer viruses are caused by people who like to foul up things. These people either enjoy inflicting hardship on others or feel they can extract some sort of useful info from the inflicted party. There are other infections as well and the general term is maleware.

Malware disrupts the orderly operation. Some run in the background and slow things down; some take over the operation and mimic key strokes taking the web browser to whatever sites it wants to go to. Others open ports so other subsequent infections can come in and transmit info (like passwords, etc) back.

Your best protection is a reputable virus protection program you update automatically. Scan at least weekly. Be sure to get Microsoft security updates automatically.

Do not open junk mail especially the mail that is circulated to many people (e.g. "motivational poetry", inspiring text, etc) as this has been all over the place and may have been altered and retransmitted with bugs in them. Even if you know the sender there is no assurance the identified sender in fact sent it. Stay away from known troublesome and "shady" sites.

Even with this you can get infected and the fix can be really challenging.

-in a way, they are a type of software, but built with malicious purposes. Derived from these 2 words, thus, they are called malwares. there are many types of malwares. e.g worms, trojan horse, and of course viruses. they are builtusing computer programming languages.

-how they function ussually depends on what they're programmed to do. for an instance, the Brontok worm, they crashes almost every application they wa're trying to run, even an antivirus software. However, in the case of a typical virus, they ussually enter your computer once u open the file or run the 'application'(that its trying to mimic).once it gets into your computer, they multiply or reproduce (make copies of themselves) until your hardisk is full, causing your computer's sluggish performance.

- the only way is to get trusted and certified antivirus software. but no matter how powerful the software is, its useless if u dont update it oftenly. 1 of the way how an antivirus software work is by recognising a virus b4 destroying it. so, it needs an updated virus definition.u can dwnload the definition(update) from the vendor's website. but prevention is always better than remedy. use any fiewall software, but if u use windows recent OS, it have its own built in firewall.

People who are antisocial and feel that they have been treated badly at their computer industry jobs get back at the world by writing programs to screw up other people's computers. They can wipe out memory, or make the machine unable to operate. Good anti-virus programs with updated virus definations (1 wk old or newer) are the best protection.

Computer viruses are malicious programs directed to
causing harm to your PC and stealing vital information
such as names, addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses,
passwords, credit card numbers, and other types of
personal information.

A virus can be an simple as two shortcuts that point to
eachother and end up crashing your system, or they can
be highly destructive by taking control over your PC or
even holding your PC hostage until you wire a certian
amount of money to a remote account! (No joke).

Viruses can be "Killed" by removing the components that
make up the virus. Sometimes it's just a simple .exe file
that when executed it does certian actions, or it can be
a series of applications that run at different times doing
many different tasks and routing itself throughout your
PC, making it very difficult to detect or remove.

I hope this answered your question(s).

Well .. computer viruses, are programs that have harmful effect on your system or even your Hardware ..
They are programed by programmers ... and I won't be surprised If I knew that the Anti-Virus companies are the ones behind the industry of viruses to make a market for the Anti-viruses ...
To kill them, you have to have an updated anti-virus, and to be careful about what files to open, and which websites to surf.
