No bats are most definitely not blind! They can see quite well. This myth was caused by the false belief that they only navigate with echolocation and that they did not use their eyes at all.
It is now known that bats see with their eyes AND see with their ears. The sound received by their ears is processed in the optic region of the brain. This allows them to actually create an image with the sound that bounces back off an object. They actually do see with their ears. That's what I call NEAT!

Bats are NOT blind. They have eyes adapted for nocturnal vision. They have greater number of rods in the retina and hence they find the daylight too scorching.They see well enough in the evening and night as a result. They keep the eyes closed during the day as they are dazzled by the daylight.

Bats aren't totally blind. Their sense of sight has just diminished because they developed a "third sense" of some sort - echolocation. They produce clicks which bounce off various objects, such as obstacles and prey, and their sense of hearing is sensitive enough to determine the distance and the location of the object the sound bounced off from.

Bats are not blind, that's a wive's tale.
Bats do have very poor eyesight but have replaced that deficit with acute hearing.
I, me, myself CAN make statement:
"I have as poor eyesight as a bat and my hearing is exceptional!"
New specs are definitely in order here. LOL
