This book was printed in 1916 and the spine states Volume I but when the book is opened, the contents is Volume II. How does this the price of the Book

The book is HISTORY OF THE AMERICAN NATION by JACKMAN
The book is in very good condition and the gold print on the back is bright and clear
The book was copyright in 1916 by
Whittman Publishing Co. in Racine and Chicago.
This seems to be the first copyright.
Page 246 was modified by the publisher.

Is it a first edition? I'd take it to have it appraised. It depends on the book, the author, and local trends in buying. Some people like "oddities."

You need to consult an expert. The error could inflate the value dramatically, have no effect, or reduce the value somewhat. An expert in a well known bookstore should know - Perhaps Barnes and Noble????

For coins, it makes them expensive. For books not so much. Have it appraised.
