Narc is a shortened form for an Undercover Narcotics officer. It began in the 70's and has evolved to include anyone who is considered to be a snitch.

you mean narc? i believe it comes from the police narcotics squad. they would bust someone and then offer them freedom or reduced sentence if they became a "snitch" to help cops get to the big time dealers...or also used to refer to a narcotics officer undercover. something like that.
