Well you can do it yourself! There isn't much work involved, most of the time is spent waiting for the banks to respond. There is nothing that a company can do that you can't do yourself, and they don't have any advantages over you.
The only time I would recommend a company is if your claiming over £5000, which means the claim can't be heard in the small claim court, so has higher legal costs. Its a good idea to use a company then as they put up the legal costs for you.
Have a look at my site below, which has step by step guides to claiming your bank charges back yourself, along with template letters with a proven track record to make life easier. It also has the latest bank charge news and developments, and forums for one to one help and support.
If you are dead set on using a company, have a look at "Unfair Bank Charge" again on my site below. I am happy to advertise them as they have got charges back for a number of users on my site, without any problems.
If you go with anyone else be carefull, and read all the small print. Some companies charge as much as 40% of the money they get back! Others say that they charge 10% but in the small print say they have a minimum charge of £200 for example, so its not 10% on any claims under £2000!
Hope this helps, take a look at my site before you make a final decision.
The site is entirely free to use!

Hi, I have successfully claimed back just over a grand from each of HSBC and FD and £300 from GE Capital. FD and GE Capital paid up very promptly, within the 14 day notice I gave them. HSBC took a little longer, they seem to think they have 40 days following your formal request, however it should be you that sets the timetable. Many people said after the 14 days that we should take the court route but I couldn't be bothered with all that so just held on B-I-N-G-O through the post after 42 days was a letter offering 90+% which I accepted. Which bank are you claiming against?

You can do it yourself babe - go onto www.moneysavingexpert.com and download the templates.
Write to the bank and ask them to send you a full list of all bank charges, the dates they were taken from your account and the reason for the last six years.
Fashion the templates to suit what you want (name, address and everything and job's a good 'un!
I claimed mine back, rejecting all offers that the bank has made to me (FIVE!) and they eventually settled in full. Do not be frightened or bullied by these people. Stick to your guns and keep repeating yourself.
It is so easy that I have thought about starting a little sideline doing just this, but I can't bring myself to rip people off for something that is so easy to do yourself. I'd be no good in business me - unless you wanted honesty!

Anyone other than the bank WILL rip you off. There is absolutely NOTHING they can do that YOU can't accomplish by walking into the bank and talking to the manager.

A friend of mine Jim is starting up his own web site to offer this service in a few days time.
He recons he'll make loads of money with it to enable him to buy a ferrari.
But I think it'll only make enough to buy a skoda hehe.
He's good, and you can trust him as I know him. You can be his first customer :-)
