I've got the newspaper print out from Lost!! NOW do you think the body was Michael in the casket??

"The body of John Lantham of New York was found shortly after 4 am in the 4300 block of Grand Avenue.

Ted Worden, a doorman at the Tower Lofts complex, heard loud noises coming from the victim's loft.

Concerned for tenants' safety, he entered the loft and found the body hanging from a beam in the living room.

According to Jaime Ortiz, a police spokesman, the incident was deemed a suicide after medical tests. Latham (sic) is survived by one teenaged son.

Memorial services will be held at the Hoffs-Drawlar Funeral Home tomorrow evening."

Interesting. Very well could be Michael, despite the new name. After all, it's always been my theory (born from other Lost addict's) that when Ben had people "leave" the island, they actually did leave. He sent them back to the rest of the world but had them put in that mental institute and given new identitites. That way if they spouted off about the island, who would believe them? Thus protecting the island from the outside world. After all, at the mental institute is where Hurley met that guy who gave him the number sequence.

But my question is that if it was in fact Michael, why did no one go to the funeral? Why didn't the teenage son (Walt) go? It can't be because the Losties didn't know who he was, after all Jack figured it out. You'd think that at least a few of them would have shown up.

Personally, until I read your print out of the newspaper article, I thought that it was Juliet or Ben's funeral.

Im not sure how you got the full print. I would like to know! I spent forever trying to study from the screenshots, and could only come up with pieces of it. Jo__ ___antham.
Looks pretty right on though. It is possible that for whatver reason Michael had to change his name after returning from the island. it is also very possible that this is a person we haven't even been introduced to yet. There is a huge gap between them leaving the island and the ending of the show where Jack meets with Kate. This leaves it wide open to meet many new characters.

**lemon i like that theory, I didnt think about it, the number sequence and the possibility of that person being on the island at some point!! though its more likely he slowly went nuts and eventually wound up in the hospital..maybe thats where jack will end up! :)

Why would Michael have a new name?

Also, wasn't everyone based out of Los Angeles or the surrounding area? The bridge Jack was going to jump off of was definately in LA (2nd or 3rd street bridge maybe?) and the river/wash underneath is the LA River.

They never show Jack going to NY so why was the body in LA?

How did you get that? I stopped the Tivo and did a frame-by-frame but just couldn't read it.
