My all time favorite, due to the suspense alone would have to be "Alien" But running a close second, and some may find this hard to believe, would have to be "Taxi Driver" with Robert Deniro. The realism display in the final scene in the hallway of that tenement building and in Deniro's portrayal of Travis Bickle was so disturbing, it made that film far more freighting than any sci-fi I've seen. I mean, think about it, you have a far greater chance of running into someone like Travis Bickle than you do of running into Freddy Gruger, Mike Meyer, Alien, etc.
