The general rule is 3 ft. 300 grams or more and 3 years old. I would not breed an animal younger than 3 yrs. or a female that is less than 300 grams. I've found that as a rule my females lose well over 100 grams after laying and if they are less than 300 grams, they have a difficult time recovering. If these animals were kept at the same household then it would be alright to pair them up but if they are from different sources or a petstore, I would quarantine them from each other for at least 3 months before putting them in together or having them in the same area as the rest of your collection.

Breeding with snakes is more a function of size rather then age. I always let my females get at least 3 feet before breeding which is usually about 2 years old. An 8 year old female would definitely be large enough and may only have 2 or 3 good breeding years left.

I think the minimum breeding age is four years, but I am not sure. As for the maximum, no idea. I have a male corn snake, he's just now turning four, and my friend said that I should be able to breed him now, so that's where I got it. Sorry I really wasn't much help, but I tried!

Good luck to you in breeding them by the way, I have always thought about doing just the same thing.

Usually, 18mo. to 2yrs. is the time span for a corn snake to become sexually mature. 8yr. old snakes are coming to the end of their breeding lives, especially if they've been breeding for 5-6yrs. already. You might want to check into their breeding history from the seller.
