I have a Bank of America VISA debit card (check card) and I gave out the numbers to a company I have since come to believe is a fraud. Is there any way for me to prevent FUTURE charges from this company (i.e., to prevent them, specifically, from grabbing more money from my account)? I was suckered but I don’t want it to get worse.

IF anyone has your card number, the only way to PREVENT them from using it is the CLOSE the card. If they have the actual account number, you need to close the account.

call the 800 number on the back of your debit card as soon as possible. explain the situation to them and they will cancel the card and get a new one with a brand new number out to you right away. if somebody has conned you they may also be able to help you get your money back. ask to speak to the fraud/loss prevention department and they will take your story and send you some forms to fill out. odds are very good they will be able to get your money back and most major credit/debit cards carry a minimum level of insurance for fraud protection which you may be covered under. the important thing is to call them up and try, you have nothing else to lose by trying.

Your best, and probably only option, is to cancel that card and get a new one with a different number. That will be the only way to guarantee that no more charges would be made to your account by them.

Much more easier to just cancel the card so they cant attempt to take anymore money.
