Tell her to quit wearing "granny panties" maybe that will work, if you say it enough maybe she'll give in lol.
I don't know really, I think women should only wear what is comfortable to them, there are plenty of types of underwear that will be sexy to you and be comfortable to her, the simple fact is that some women don't want anything stuck in their ***. The best thing is for you to try them on and see how comfortable you are in them, if you don't like the way they feel maybe you will change your mind about wanting her to wear them so bad.

My fiancee started wearing them when she started going to the gym more often...the reasoning was the other underwear would bunch up and go up her backside.
She got used to them and wears them all the time.
If your gf goes to the gym ask her if her underwear bothers her and go from there.

Buy her a nice pair as a gift and ask her to wear it for you. If she feels uncomfortable, don't push it, not everyone likes those.

i know men think they are sexy, but they are really a health hazard to women (according to several magazine articles i've read lately) (1) they allow jeans to chafe you in places you probably wouldn't want it and (2) it allows bacteria from the anus to move to the vagina easier, therefore causing urinary tract infections,pelvic infections and even bladder infections.
